Missions Minute - Barb Dunbar (September 12, 2024)

Barb is a missionary in Osaka, Japan and has been in Japan for many years. The Japanese people are very hesitant about religion and very tied to their ancestral roots. On paper, Christianity makes up about 2% of the population of Japan. However, this number is a little misleading because it includes many non-Christian groups. The appropriate percentage should be less than 1%.

Barb definitely has a heart for the Japanese people. She has many different projects that she works on such as language exchange and ladies cafe. These are both outreach groups. Ladies Cafe is a group of ladies that get together and talk organically about everyday things. The topic of conversation leads to talk about faith and Jesus. Language exchange is helping each other in English and Japanese. The topic of conversation can again lead to talk about Christianity.
Barb's biggest prayer request at the moment is for the Biblical counseling module four, which is the last module before certification completion for those participants. She is helping to facilitate this on December 6th, and 7th. It is a big job and is not easy to facilitate that. There are many things to organize and get ready for.

Also please pray that she can find three very good translators for this course. Translation of written English words words into written Japanese words can be difficult.
