Tom Hogsed

Lead Pastor
I grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, but currently reside in Northeast Ohio. I have B.A. in Youth Ministry and M.A. in Biblical Exposition. I have been married to my wife for over 25 years and have two children. My ministry journey began when I served as a high school pastor in Ohio for over a decade. In 2008, myself and a team of 30 people planted The Summit Church (North Canton, Ohio), where I now serve as Lead Pastor! I have self-published several books, which aim to help people better understand the Bible and how they fit into the world around them.

I enjoy a variety of hobbies including listening to all types of music, writing, messing with electronics, and watching British TV.

Some of the highlights of my life have been mission travels outside of the United States to places like Mexico, Argentina, Bahamas, Peru, Dominican Republic, Italy, and Ireland. Many of these trips have made a great impact on my life!

Jeff Dayton

Associate Pastor
Jeff and his wife Kelly are native Ohioans that grew up in the Canton/Massillon area and currently reside in Northeast Ohio. They have been married for over 20 years and have been blessed with two children, Ethan and Arianna. Jeff began his ministry journey at Canton Baptist Temple and has served in churches in South Carolina, Kentucky and Ohio. He is a graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and has spent the ten years serving a church in Avon Lake, Ohio as the Student Pastor and the Pastor of Family Ministries. Jeff also served as a Hospice Chaplain and Bereavement Coordinator in several nursing homes in the Cleveland area.

Jeff loves spending time with his family and enjoys a variety of hobbies including photography, listening to all kinds of music, cooking, hiking, biking, and all things Batman.

Jeff has a passion for Christ and people. He loves missions, mentoring guys, and building relationships.

Nolan Oakes

Family and Discipleship Pastor
Born and raised in Canton, Ohio, I now live in Uniontown with my amazing wife, Makala, and our four energetic children: Isaiah, Elijah, Arabella, and Judah. We discovered The Summit in 2016, and I have been on staff since 2019, with a background in worship and youth ministries.

My interests mainly revolve around spending time with my family, no matter what we’re doing! I love learning and consider myself a lifelong student. In the little free time I have, I enjoy reading, writing, and listening to podcasts and audiobooks. I’m also a pretty big fan of building and designing LEGO creations with my kids.

At church, my focus is on discipleship. I believe that building a strong, unshakable foundation begins at home. That's why I aim to create adult discipleship spaces that encourage personal study and reflection on Scripture. Similarly, our Sunday morning kids' experience emphasizes the continuity and overarching narrative of God's Word.

Matt Stuchul

Worship Pastor
I was born and raised in Canton Ohio. I am the son of, Rod and Nancy, two incredibly merciful parents and brother to two amazing younger sisters, Jill and Jamie. I played the trombone in 5th grade band but that was embarrassing so I quit. When I was 11, Mom forced me to take piano lessons, but that was even more embarrassing so I quit that too. Mom also forced me sing in the high school church choir…you can see where this is going. Fast forward to a couple years ago when I married the love of my life, Ashley. We now have two beautiful children. I’ve been working as a carpenter for the past several years after spending nearly a decade as a banker (The long hair came after I quit) and I love stories of vengeance. Besides being a bit of a rebellious spirit, the most important thing about me is that I’m a sinner Jesus loved enough to die for. I have nothing to offer Him but He refuses daily to give up on me and I am forever grateful for His grace.

I have no real qualifications for the position of Worship Leader with the exception of a passion to glorify Jesus Christ. I have a desire for everyone to find their hope in Him and to do the same. I love the Summit and you, the people. I can’t thank you enough for the opportunity I have, through your faithfulness, to serve you.

This quote by an unknown author has forever changed my view of God and music. “Music has the ability to enter your soul, without your permission”.

This is all I know and love about music.

Stacey Coffee

Director of Connections
My husband Tom and I have been married for 40 years. We live in Canton with our dog Kevin, who is a whole lot of min-pin, 3% rat dog, and 1% wolf. Our son Sam serves as a policeman in Boulder, Colorado. I’d be sad he lives so far away if I wasn’t so proud of him.

I truly have a heart for everyone God brings into our church each week. I may never know what brought you here initially... but I’m committed to helping you find where God wants you to be. There’s so much more to this than being surrounded by people on Sunday morning. It’s really important to me that everyone feels welcomed, valued and connected. We’re literally hardwired for relationships and to serve others. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be instrumental in moving all of us in that direction. There’s nowhere we can go that God is not fully engaged with us. When you get to know me, you’ll find I have a passion for encouraging everyone to be fully engaged on the journey towards HIm. If you lean in a little, you’ll see that I have paint in my hair, garden soil under my nails, and scraps of fabric attached to pretty much everything I own. I tend to look at life, ministry, and every creative endeavor as an adventure.

"The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him..." 2 Chronicles 16:9a.

Hannah Hogsed

Director of Communications
I grew up in Dalton, Ohio. In 2022, I graduated from Cedarville University with a Degree in Education and a Bible Minor. A week later, I married my best friend Ty and we currently reside in Massillon, Ohio. In addition to being the Director of Communications at The Summit, I am also a 7th grade Math Teacher at Dalton Middle School. Some of my favorite things include thrift shopping, exploring small towns, crafting, and a tasty cup of coffee from a local coffee shop.

My passion at The Summit is to Engage our surrounding city, Empower our ministry at the church, and Equip our team. This happens by making our church family feel welcomed and 'in the loop' through the use of social media, announcements, and engaging with members and guests. I want to ensure that our message is clear and compelling across all platforms. I am dedicated to building bridges between our church and community to share the love, hope, & faith of Jesus that connects our church family!

Liz Ostergren

Early Childhood Director
I was born in Texas, but moved to Ohio in my teens where I have lived most of my life. I had the privilege to grow up in a family that taught the love of Jesus to me at a young age. I have a BA in sports management with a minor in child development. My husband Stefan and I have been married for 13 wonderful years, we have three awesome boys. My first experience in ministry was right out of college and I was fortunate to be able to serve as a missionary in Vienna, Austria for two years as the assistant operations manager at an International church. When we came back to the US God opened doors for me to have my first experience as the children’s ministry director at the local church we went to. This is where I discovered that God has given me a passion to share his love, grace, and compassion to children.

God has always placed in my heart at a young age that I wanted to work as a missionary, as I was praying about this position God started to reveal to me that my mission field He has for me are the children in this church. Your children are so special and I cherish this opportunity to be a part of their journey of experiencing, connecting, and building their relationship with God. I will diligently pray this verse over your children “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7
