As July begins many of us are thinking about enjoying the thrill of riding a roller coaster at Cedar Point. The Burkholders and EBI have been experiencing the "roller coaster" of life in the past few months with some thrilling highs and heart breaking lows.
In April, a high point was when the staff at EBI had the privilege of meeting with many of their team serving in the US and Mexico as they gathered together in Sebring. They met to team build, grow in their biblical knowledge, and share past accomplishments while setting new goals for the future. The chance to meet and share is always a thrilling and enriching time for the EBI staff. Please pray that the plans they made for the coming year will bring much fruit for spreading the Gospel in Spanish speaking communities throughout the world.
EBi continues "rolling out" their publications in new countries. They recently expanded their biblical reach into the country of Paraguay. They now have several of their publications in a bookstore in the country. Please pray that these books will touch the lives of those who shop at this bookstore and that other retail outlets in this country will welcome EBI publications into their stores as well.
Another high point for EBI publications is featured in the printing and distribution of a newly published book entitled "Pink is for Girls: Rescuing biblical femininity in parenting" It is a guid for young mothers. It combines biblical truth with practical guidance for raising daughters in a confused culture while growing in their biblical faith. We pray that more mothers in all countries will embrace the biblical teaching of the value of becoming a Godly woman.
And just as every roller coaster takes us to thrilling heights, so too can reality bring us into the lowest points of our lives. The Poe family, an integral part of the EBI staff, recently experienced such a low in the earthly death of one of their beloved members, Debbie Poe. She and her husband Joe have served for many years with EBI. Debbie had experienced many debilitating health issues over the years. She had her lows and her highs receiving a liver transplant with many complications from that surgery. Debbie also developed throat cancer. With each health challenge Debbie and her family relied on the strength of the Lord to bring her through. In the end God chose to bring her Home to Heaven to accomplish His final healing. We praise God for His sovereignty over all the high and lows of our lives and ask that you keep the EBI staff and the Poe family in your prayers as they grieve the earthly loss of Debbie.
So as our summer "rolls" along please keep Bruce and Lisa Burkholder and all the staff at EBI in your prayers. They need our prayer and financial support to continue the important mission of spreading the gospel to the Spanish speaking and Latino communities throughout the world.
