Meet our lay elder team

Charlie Wilson

My name is Charlie Wilson. I lead the men’s bible study every Tuesday morning at 6:30 A.M. All men are welcome to join us for verse-by-verse study. Come get a good bible discussion before your workday starts. You may also recognize my face from the parking team, where I volunteer once a month. I’m also an oxymoron: I can’t eat bread (gluten), but I’m the one who usually transports it for the pantry.

My wife Maggie helps with Pre-K Sunday school. When The Summit obtained our current building, we came along with it. Our shrinking congregation could no longer maintain it properly. But the Holy Spirit introduced us to The Summit, and we found our core beliefs were all similar.

Scott Nofer

I am 54 years old and have been regularly attending The Summit Church with my wife, Jennifer, for nearly the last five years. This November, Jennifer and I will celebrate 30 years of marriage. Jennifer volunteers with the North Canton Cares Food Pantry ministry. I currently serve on the Missions Team, Screens Team, and with the North Canton Cares Food Pantry. Our family has been blessed to become involved in many areas of ministry at Summit. Our daughter, Madelyne Evans, and her husband, Austen, serve with the Worship Team and Children’s Ministry. Our son, Brian Nofer, serves on the Security Team alongside his wife, Felicia, who volunteers in Children’s Ministry. We are also blessed with three wonderful grandchildren: Charlee (4), Josephine (1), and Scott (2 months).

Professionally, I work alongside my mother, Sherry, and my son, Brian, in our family business, Holmes Seed Company, where I have worked for more than 17 years. We provide over 1,700 varieties of vegetable and sunflower seeds to commercial growers and home gardeners across the country. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and look forward to supporting the ministries of Summit in whatever ways the Lord may lead.

Tom Boosz

Greetings Church Family! My wife Dawn and I have been attending here at the Summit since 2019. We met at church when we were in youth group and have been married for 41 years. We have three grown kids and currently 10 grandkids, with our 11th due in October. Our quiver is full. We enjoy games and gatherings with family and friends. We are big supporters of our kids and grandkids in their activities and Cleveland Baseball. Go Tribe!

I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was in high school and was baptized my freshman year in college. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to serve the Lord and grow in my spiritual formation. I believe our church is a place with sound biblical teaching, awesome worship, and many opportunities to serve, find community, and grow in our relationship with God. I would like to encourage everyone to take the next steps in their spiritual journey to become an apprentice of Jesus. Leading people from where they are to where God wants them to be.

Ace Sucaldito

I’m Ace Sucaldito. I’m married to my incredible wife, Julem, and we have two wonderful children, Zeb, who is 16, and Zariah (Zari), who is 12. I was born in the Philippines and migrated to the United States in 2005. In 2017, I became a citizen. I came to faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at Canton Baptist Temple, not long before meeting Julem. Professionally, I’m a physical therapist serving at a hospital in the Akron area.

In 2008, the same year we got married, we joined The Summit church launch team. Since then, The Summit has been a huge part of our lives. We’ve grown as a family, served in different ministries, and witnessed the church grow and change over the years. Julem is a member of the worship team, and I’m part of the media team, running screens. Together, we teach in the kids’ ministry, with our children serving alongside us. I’m also involved in the Missions committee. Last summer, I had the privilege of accompanying an incredible group of people on a mission trip to Ireland.

The Summit has helped shape our faith through relationships, discipleship, and community. We’ve built lasting friendships and found a true family in Christ. Personally, I’ve gone from quietly sitting in the background to genuinely enjoying connecting with people—through handshakes, hugs, and meaningful conversations. I’m far from perfect, but I trust that God continues to use The Summit to grow me and lead our family where He wants us to be, just as He is doing in each and every one of you.

And at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about—that as we grow together in Christ, the world sees that we belong to Him and that we are loved by God just as He loves His Son (John 17:23).
